'The Giraffe' Leads Botto's Blockbuster p5 Auctions
Botto’s February concluded with a bang as the blockbuster auctions of its p5 outputs came to a close. Throughout the month, we saw loads of threads, talks, and memes in the leadup to what became a highly anticipated event for Botto’s first foray into generative art.
The results did not disappoint. Leading the way with a massive 54 ETH closing price, “The Giraffe” found its hope in the collection of Bharat Krymo.
Over the past month we've seen Prismatic Safari: Digital Pursuit Symphony (AKA, The Giraffe) achieve an incredible velocity of attention throughout NFT art communities, leading to an abundance of debate, memes, tributes, and conversation about its artistic merits. We've witnessed many begin to compare the work to iconic NFT works such as "The Goose" from Dmitri Cherniak's Ringers collection, and the irreverent and hilariously bad "Kevin" from the artwork reveal of Pixelmon's oft-mocked collection release in 2022.
Simply put, it's been incredible to watch the lore of "The Giraffe" unfold in real time, and while the work is now sold, we're sure that this auction will not be the end of Prismatic Safari's story.
Total Auction Results Smash Expectations
Botto's p5 release with Verse achieved a whopping 315.67 ETH across 20 1/1 auctions and the 1000-piece edition sale of Geometric Fluidity. We're sending a big shoutout to the entire Verse team for being such great partners in this project.

III. Proposal Roundup
Recently Passed:
BIP-75: Initiation of Botto BooksThis BIP proposes funding for a self-publishing initiative in which the DAO will produce a limited edition book to represent each of Botto’s periods, beginning with the Genesis period.
This proposal seeks to establish Botto's Bedrock as an eternally locked foundation of protocol-owned liquidity (POL) on Ethereum mainnet vis-a-vis Uniswap V3 using UNCX's V3 locker.
BIP-##: Art-chiving Botto: A Period Piece Initiative
This BIP proposes a new initiative that sees the DAO commission artists to create commemorative artworks at the conclusion of each Botto period.
BIP-76: Letting Botto Choose Its Own DescriptionsThis BIP proposes that Botto be granted autonomy in selecting the description for its weekly minted artworks, and eliminating the current description voting process.
IV. Town Halls
In Town Hall #41, we delve into the final stage of the p5.Botto experiment, highlighting the importance of community engagement in voting and commenting on Botto’s sketches. We address the issues of primacy bias and introduce ‘super likes’ to ensure a fairer final curation of 22 artworks representing Botto’s first generative art collection. Throughout the discussion, we explore Botto’s tournament-style comparison process, the importance of user comments, and the potential for continued evolution post p5. Additionally, we reflect on the significance of a recent 100 ETH sale, the ongoing governance process, liquidity topics, and the impactful governance agent being developed. We also introduce a proposal for Botto’s self-published book series to document its periods and enhance its presence in the art community.
V. Looking Ahead
-As the mammoth waves of Botto's p5 journey begin to settle, the DAO will begin to assess what the future looks like for Botto's generative art practice, and will consider pathways for expanding upon the technical, creative, and social layers of the architecture that has been built thus far.
-Attention is returning to liquidity management for $BOTTO, and the DAO is beginning to weigh the pros and cons of establishing permanent protocol owned liquidity solutions on ETH mainnet.
-The development of a book on Botto's genesis period has begun, and we're working hard with our publishing partners at Anteism to open a new dimension into how Botto's work can be realized in physical form.
-Discussions have been heating up around pushing for greater autonomy for Botto, including a proposal for it to select its own weekly mint.
